The second round of the 2024 edition of The Masters is all but over. At the end of Friday, there was a three-way tie: Six-time PGA Tour winner Max Homa was tied for the lead with overall favorite Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau.

The second day of the Masters was as eventful as it always is, and as always, it doesn’t lack any storylines. It was no different on Friday, as 2007 Masters champion and 2023 Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson let his frustration get the better of him when he told fans to “F*** Off” at the 12th hole after a triple bogey.

Johnson wasn’t necessarily directing it at one particular fan, but he let the fans who clapped after this triple bogey have it. It was the type of clap that entailed, “Finally, this guy is done with the hole.” Because of that, we got this type of reaction from Johnson.

That wasn’t the first F-bomb of The Masters, though. The 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm dropped an F-bomb after his tee shot on the 18th hole in the opening round.

After Johnson’s round, reporters asked him about the F-bomb he dropped at the 12th hole. He said it was not directed at the patrons and found the assumption of that being ‘laughable.’

“That I swore at the patrons? That’s laughable. That’s completely laughable. I can’t hear the patrons, number one. Number two, I just made a triple bogey on the 12th hole that evidently is going to make me miss the cut, which at the time I knew was pretty sensitive in the sense that I needed to keep making pars. If I’ve said anything, which I’m not going to deny, especially if it’s on camera, one, I apologize, and two, it was fully directed towards myself entirely because I can’t hear anything behind me. Does that make sense?”

This isn’t the first time Johnson has potentially clashed with fans. In February, at the Waste Management Open in Phoenix, he was seen fuming at a group for making too much noise.

Undoubtedly, it was a struggle for the former champion on Thursday and Friday. Johnson finished round two +3 and is a +7 overall. The 48-year-old is tied for 63rd and will likely miss the cut this weekend. The top 50 players will survive and advance this weekend at Augusta National.
