Blake Shelton recently admitted to feeling slightly sheepish about asking his wife, Gwen Stefani, to join him for a performance at the grand opening for the Las Vegas location of his Ole Red bar on April 16.
“I felt guilty to even ask her to do it, but not so guilty that I didn’t ask her,” Shelton shared with E! News. This request came after Stefani’s highly anticipated reunion with No Doubt at Coachella’s first weekend
The 54-year-old singer, fresh from her Coachella performances, including a set with Olivia Rodrigo on April 13, had been intensely preparing for the set.
“You can’t even imagine the rehearsals leading up to that because she hasn’t played with those guys in like nine years,” Shelton explained. “They had to get in there and dust off the music and get it going again.”
While the country star was preparing for the grand opening of his bar, he unfortunately couldn’t attend Coachella in person but was blown away by what he saw online. “It was unbelievable. I was able to watch it on YouTube. You could tell that they just have that energy and that connection with each other and it’s the best concert I think I’ve ever seen in my life,” he recounted.
Thankfully for Shelton, 47, the debut of his newest venue was a huge success: “From the second they opened the door just as practice run it’s just been non-stop,” he said. “People love having a Nashville connection in Las Vegas because so many country music fans come to Las Vegas. Whether they’re coming to a concert or they’re just coming to Las Vegas because it’s Las Vegas. And to be able to take a break from gambling or whatever you’re doing here and just come have a beer and listen to some live country music is pretty special.”
The couple recently enjoyed some down time on their Oklahoma ranch in between Stefani’s Coachella performances. The No Doubt front woman shared a wholesome look at their farm life on her Instagram stories on April 15, where they rushed to plant some flowers before an impending rainstorm.
