Cats will make themselves at home anywhere, sometimes in the most inconvenient of places, and there’s very little owners can do to stop them.

A “jealous” cat making itself at home on its owner’s very comfortable looking pregnancy pillow has gone viral on TikTok with over 9.2 million views on the platform. “Someone is clearly jealous,” reads the caption.

In the video, posted by Kareem and Fifi, who run the account @dontstopmeowing, Kareem films himself walking in to the bedroom, where his pregnant wife Fifi is taking a nap with tabby cat Chase curled up next to her.

As Kareem attempts to remove Chase, Fifi wakes up, looking disgruntled that he’s trying to take him away, and the two carry on their relaxation time together.

“You know what, I’m going to go find your sisters instead,” Kareem says as he leaves.

The couple have a total of three cats, and in another video they explain how they “became a cat family.”

After rescuing their first cat, Skye, who was hit by a car and nearly didn’t make it, they then rescued Chase, who was abandoned by his mother.

Explaining that the two “never really connected,” they ended up getting Chase a friend, Millie, who only has one eye.

“We were worried that these two would never get along,” they explained. “But when we almost rehomed Millie, Chase wouldn’t let go. He learned to love her so much, and that’s how we became a cat family.” The last scene shows the couple and their three cats at the beach.

Of the 6.3 million companion animals that end up in shelters each year, 3.2 million are cats, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Of those, approximately 530,000 are euthanized, so by choosing to rescue a cat like Skye, Chase, or Millie, rather than buying a kitten, you would be giving a cat a second chance at a forever home.

While it might be tempting to rescue as many cats from shelters as possible, cats can be territorial, and keeping the peace in a multi-cat household can feel like a constant battle.

One way to encourage your cats to get on is to make sure they all the cats have a private place that is only theirs to retreat to, “in the event that your cat feels overwhelmed or simply needs some privacy,” recommends PetMD.

“Carriers (left open so that your cat can enter and exit at will) and even cardboard boxes can make great retreats. It is essential to provide at least one private area for each cat. However, if at all possible, your cats will appreciate having more than one area from which to choose.”

“My cat uses my pregnancy pillow more than I do,” wrote one user. “I love how Chase also has his feet up,” said another.
