A social media video of a horse’s reaction to spotting a zebra across the barn for the first time has quickly gone viral.

The hilarious moment, which was captured by TikTok user @equinemik, has been viewed over 8.4 million times since being shared on March 2. It shows the moment this owner’s horse Ginger made eye contact with an unusual animal in an Ohio barn.

The caption reads: “Ginger is like, ‘I’ve never seen a horse that color before?!?!'”

Ginger’s eyes were bulging out of her head. There was no blinking either. She didn’t want to miss whatever the heck was looking right back at her.

The horse owner wrote in the comment section that the zebra is the barn owner’s animal. They also have lemurs and kangaroos. Soon that horse is going to see more animals than humans do in their lifetime.

What Do the Comments Say?

The horse’s reaction has left viewers in stitches. More than 1.7 million TikTok users have liked the post and another 6,623 chimed in eagerly throughout the comment section.

“It’s the zebra looking right back at him that has me dying,” said a viewer.

One pointed out: “They’re both looking at each other like, ‘What the hell happened to you?'”

“The zebra is feeling judged.” added another.

Someone else wrote: “She wants to know where the new little horse got that designer jacket she is wearing.”

Newsweek reached out to @equinemik via TikTok for additional comment.

Horses Vs. Zebras

While horses and zebras look alike and stem from the same family—Equidae—the two are quite different. And the differences between the two include more than the obvious that zebras have stripes and horses do not.

Going off looks, zebras are smaller than horses. Zebras are about five feet tall from their shoulders to their hooves and weigh an average of 880 pounds. Horses grow taller with some being seven feet tall. Plus, horses weigh double with some easily over 1,800 pounds.

Because horses tend to be larger, they have longer legs that can outpace a zebra. Horses can run about 54 miles per hour while a zebra can reach speeds of 40 miles per hour.

The manes of both species are different too. Horses have hair that is long enough to be brushed and braided while a zebra’s main is shorter and stiffer. A zebra’s marine looks more similar to that of a donkey.
