Prepare to burst with happiness as you watch the moment a rescue dog named Simon sees his grandma approaching his front door.

The serotonin-boosting Instagram video has amassed 4.7 million views and you can certainly see why.

Simon’s reaction has melted the internet’s heart as the epileptic dog, who lives in Brooklyn, New York, couldn’t be happier to see his gran.

The text layered over the wholesome video, which can be seen here, says: “There is no love like the love between a dog and his grandma.”

The footage shows the moment she pulls up in her car while he watches from the window and instantly starts to bark. Then the woman gets out of her car and removes her hood and smiles at him. Simon can barely contain his excitement as he jumps off the window sill and begins to bark at the door while wagging his tail.

Once the door opens, Simon is like a little kid on Christmas Day as he bursts with energy and repeatedly whizzes around in a circle and jumps up at his grandma to say hello.

It’s clear Simon has a soft spot for his grandma who most likely spoils him as grandparents do. Indeed, dogs can have favorites and Simon is showing signs that his owner’s mom is one of them.

Previously, Newsweek spoke to veterinarians to find out what signs indicate that you are your dog’s favorite person. They include:

  • They want to be near you and follow you everywhere.
  • They wiggle at you.
  • They keep eye contact with you.
  • They are relaxed.
  • They are affectionate and rub their face on you.

Kait Hembree, veterinary behavior nurse and head of training and behavior specialist at GoodPup, previously told Newsweek that special connections can be made from a variety of positive interactions. This may involve walking, food and a lot of playing together.

“In our house we can’t even say the word grandma or our dogs flip out and act crazy,” said another.

A third comment said: “This made my smile and cry at the same time.”

“Awww!!! I love how for so many dogs the emotion is too great for them to stay by the person they are excited about and need to express themselves by running back and forth,” said a fourth.
