Two decades on, and Mean Girls the movie has amassed a cult following, as well as a stage adaptation. Now, at the premiere of the new film musical, original cast member Lindsay Lohan has stunned and confused fans.
Lohan appeared as Cady Heron in the 2004 hit alongside stars such as Rachel McAdams, Tina Fey, and Amanda Seyfried. Lohan’s childhood stardom saw her firmly in the public eye, with hits such as The Parent Trap and Freaky Friday under her belt, even before Mean Girls.
However, Lohan had a troubled time as she matured, spending a period in drug rehab and stepping away from the spotlight. However, over the last few years, she has started acting again, appearing in Netflix’s Falling for Christmas in 2022. Much to fans’ delight, Lohan seems to be swapping the party days of her heyday for a more-relaxed life with her husband, Bader Shammas.

Lohan recently teamed up with some Mean Girls alumni for a Walmart Black Friday commercial, and now, she has attended the premiere of the movie musical, which will land in film theaters in a few days.
When the first trailer for the movie musical came out, it was criticized heavily by onlookers; the musical element seemed to have been missed out, and it was blasted for being a remake of the classic film.
Lohan turned up to the premiere on Monday with her iconic red hair down and in a sleek long-sleeved black dress that exposed her back and sides.
An image of the star on the movie’s pink carpet was shared on Reddit, and the caption “Lindsay Lohan at the premiere of the new Mean Girls movie tonight” was the only way some onlookers could identify the star. Newsweek has reached out to Lindsay Lohan’s publicist via email for comment.
“She’s barely recognizable now” and “I would have no idea who this was if you didn’t tell me” were among the first comments left.
Although her acting credits have been patchy over the last few years, Lohan has had notable roles, starring as Katerina West in Sick Note alongside Rupert Grint and narrating the dating show Lovestruck High.
One Reddit user thought she looked different but healthy: “She looks wildly different, but damn, her hair looks so good and healthy.”
Multiple platform users shared their thoughts on her look. An online commentator posted: “She had that super cute girl-next-door look with the cheeks and freckles and now she looks like every other celeb whose dissected their face for no reason.”
“Doesn’t look like the same person. Enough with the plastic surgery,” another posted.
Multiple online bystanders defended Lohan’s new look with comments such as, “She looks nice in this new stage of her life,” and, “All these people commenting she doesn’t look the same… Let people make decisions about their own bodies fam! She looks gorgeous.”
Users of X, formerly Twitter, were particularly excited to see the star at the premiere and loved her look.
“Lindsay Lohan looking fantastic!” a fan of the movie shared, with another adding, “I’m so proud of her!!”
