The Ottawa police guns and gangs unit has charged an 18-year-old Ottawa man with a number of charges in connection with a shooting incident on Michele Drive on Dec. 23, 2023.
A 20-year-old man was wounded in the Sunday afternoon incident near Penny Drive the Pinecrest area.

Police said at the time that the victim was taken to hospital with critical injuries.
The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, In addition, he was charged with discharge firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, possess restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence, possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence, possess weapon dangerous to public peace, careless use of a firearm and three counts of possessing a firearm while prohibited.
The accused person’s identity was not released because he was a youth at the time of the incident, as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
