Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene lambasted fellow Republican Rep. Chip Roy after he voted Wednesday to reject an effort she introduced to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib over the Democrat’s stance and actions regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict.

“You voted to kick me out of the freedom caucus, but keep CNN wannabe Ken Buck and vaping groping Lauren Boebert and you voted with the Democrats to protect Terrorist Tlaib,” Ms. Greene wrote on X Thursday. “You hate Trump, certified Biden’s election, and could care less about [Jan. 6] defendants being persecuted.”

Mr. Roy of Texas was one of the 23 Republicans who voted Wednesday to reject the resolution to censure Ms. Tlaib of Michigan — the only Palestinian American member of Congress. In a statement posted on X after the vote, he called the resolution “feckless,” “deeply flawed” and that it had “factually unverified claims.”

He agreed with Ms. Greene that the Michigan Democrat “has repeatedly made outrageous remarks toward Israel and the Jewish people” and that “her conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress and certainly worthy of condemnation — if not censure.”

But, the Texas lawmaker took issue with accusing the Democrat of starting an “insurrection” at the Capitol, which Ms. Greene, Georgia Republican, used to describe the rally that took place on Oct. 18 where hundreds of demonstrators showed up to call for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.

The U.S. Capitol Police arrested more than 300 people at the event led by IfNotNow and Jewish Voice.

“I voted to table the resolution,” he said. “In January 2021, the legal term insurrection was stretched and abused by many following the events at the Capitol. We should not continue to perpetuate claims of ‘insurrection’ at the Capitol, and we should not abuse the term now.”

Ms. Tlaib was seen speaking at the event, which led to Ms. Greene introducing the privileged resolution that would censure the Democrat for “antisemitic activity,” including some comments she has made in the past about Jewish people.

In response, Ms. Tlaib had called the resolution “deeply Islamophobic” and said it harms “peaceful Jewish anti-war advocates.”

In an earlier post Thursday, the Georgia Republican called out all of her Republican colleagues who voted against the resolution, saying they “hide behind excuses with their white wigs on and quote the constitution.”

“They claim the reason they voted with the Democrats to table my censure resolution against Rashida Tlaib is because her full blown support of Hamas, with words and actions, is her ‘free speech,’ yet they are unwilling to use Congress’s free speech, which is censure, to condemn her!” she wrote.

The House voted to table the motion in a 222-186 vote, with 23 Republicans voting with Democrats.
