The NFL draft is a little over one month away, and prospects are doing all they can to rise in the draft board. For the most part, we have an idea of where most players will land, at least on Day One of the draft. There’s plenty of time for prospects to show they are worthy of a day-one selection, like Michigan quarterback and a potential top-10 draft pick, J.J. McCarthy.
McCarthy has risen up the draft boards over the last few months. Throughout his college career, he’s been a part of a winning program and has done his part in catapulting the Wolverines to new heights in his college career. The Michigan Pro Day was his chance to show the scouts and NFL teams he is the real deal, and he certainly didn’t disappoint. Check out this clip of his impressive deep ball that amazed everyone in attendance.
It is just one clip; however, it was a pretty impressive throw. Nonetheless, the NFL “experts” on Twitter were not impressed with it and didn’t hesitate to express their feelings.

I must admit that I’m not a big J.J. McCarthy fan; however, there is no denying his resume and his winning. Yes, he was part of a great program led by a great head coach turned Charger head coach, Jim Harbaugh—but he did what was necessary to lead his program to a 27-1 record as a starter. After his Pro Day, McCarthy told reporters, including Austin Meek of The Athletic, that he wanted to prove he could make NFL-type throws.
“I just wanted to showcase the questions they had about out-breakers to the left and putting some air on the deep posts, stuff like that,” McCarthy said, via Austin Meek of TheAthletic.com. “I felt like I did that today. I’m pretty confident with the showing I put out there.”
If he can land with a solid offense with weapons, i.e., the Minnesota Vikings, then that could change everything for the Vikings and his career. Many project McCarthy would be the fourth quarterback taken in the upcoming draft behind USC’s Caleb Willaims, North Carolina’s Drake Maye, and LSU’s Jayden Daniels, in that order. It is a heavy-loaded quarterback class, but as we all know, not all quarterbacks will live up to the hype for one reason or another.
In his senior season, the 21-year-old completed 72.3% of his passes, completing 240 passes, 2991 passing yards, 9.0 yards per attempt, and 22 touchdowns to only four interceptions. McCarthy is ready to show he is more than what he was in Ann Arbor.
