Trick for Adding Color to Hair With No Dye Goes Viral—’Super Cool Idea’

Changing your hair color is a huge commitment, as well as potentially damaging, and for those of us not brave enough to rock pastel pink on the daily or who want a pop of color for a special occasion, it can be hard to find a work around.

If you’re wanting to go all out and test out a new shade or try out the colored root trend made popular by the likes of singer Billie Eilish without hours in a salon chair inflicting damage to your hair and bank account, clip-in extensions are the way to go.

The only issue is that this hair equivalent of temporary tattoos can easily be noticeable if not added into your natural hair well. Luckily, Victoria Sharp has shared her easy hack to add in a pop of red to her fringe that’s practically undetectable.

Sharp’s tip, shared in a video posted to her TikTok account (@victoriasharp_) earlier this week, has since gone viral, gaining over 2 million views and 52,000 likes so far.

How to Add Colorful Clip-in Extensions

The look is surprisingly easy to create at home, and the damage-free hair styling hack only needs the extensions and a spray bottle.

Using short wine-red clip-in extensions, Sharp began by spraying down her short brown hair (you can even just use water for this) and brushes through with a comb, parting her hair in the middle.

Next, she uses the comb to lift the hair slightly off-center, creating a part to clip the extension into before flicking the hair back over and brushing to blend the two.

After repeating on the other side, Sharp brushed her hair into a ponytail, leaving her face framing pieces and part of the extensions loose to form a fringe, trimming the strands that are verging on too long.

TikTok Users React

Sharp’s hack provided major hair inspiration for many, with multiple comments like “gorge” and “slay” left under the video by those who loved the look.

“It’s a super cool idea!” wrote on TikTok user.

The video even inspired those who already had the look, as one user commented, “said to myself I want to try this and then remembered my whole head of hair is a pop of red now lol.”

The color is clearly living in a lot of people’s minds, as another TikTok user commented, “The way I’m in the salon getting my hair dyed red rn.”
