No one wants dry lips, but your commitment to luscious lips at all times means you’re constantly battling sticky residue from your favorite balm lingering on your finger.

Whilst some beauty brands are now tackling this issue head-on, releasing products with applicators built into the packaging so you’ll never be left with sticky fingers again, many cult products still haven’t been given a much-needed upgrade.

Fed up with the daily struggle, a woman called Didelina took matters into her own hands and decided to repot her Vaseline as she was “tired of sticky fingers.”

Sharing the process to her TikTok account, @didelinax, her hack has gained over 1.1 million likes and 12.9 million views since being shared on April 22.

Using a pot she’d purchased online, with an easily accessible applicator you won’t lose and a mirror to check your application, she melted down her product before transferring it to the new pot.

How To Depot Your Lip Balm

  1. Ensuring the lid is closed tightly, place the tin of product into a plastic bag, before tying to close fully. You want to make sure the bag won’t let liquid in or out.
  2. Add boiled water into a heatproof bowl, and place in the bag containing the lip balm. Leave for a few minutes to melt, before removing from the water and taking the pot out of the bag. It’s ready when it’s almost a liquid consistency.
  3. Pour the product from the old container to the new one, using a lip brush or applicator to scrape out any excess and smooth the product down into the new pot.
  4. Clean up any edges, close the pot, and leave in the freezer until it’s set!

What Do the Comments Say?

Some users said they related to the issue and wanted to try the hack, as one wrote: “It’s so extra, I’ll try it!”

Another added: “It’s quite the process, but the container is sooo cute.”

Others thought the hack was a waste of time, and she could instead just use an applicator for the existing pot.

“Why don’t u just use that scoopy thing for the Vaseline pot?” one said. “No need to melt.”

Another added: “My question is why not find a way to just carry that applicator with you and just scoop it from the original container?”

One user was unbothered by sticky fingers, having found an alternative use for the excess product.

They explained: “I just rub the excess on my elbows or knuckles.”
