Cat Who Had Her Kittens Adopted Looking for Home After 240 Days in Shelter

A cat brought into a U.K. shelter nearly 250 days ago is still awaiting her turn to be adopted after watching other cats and kittens go before her.

Sarina, a 7-year-old cat, was brought into Taylor’s Rehoming Centre, which is run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) West Dorset branch, with her four kittens. The kittens have all since been adopted; however, Sarina is still looking for a forever family to come forward.

But her time waiting for a forever home has proved to be stressful. Sarina has started overgrooming herself. This behavior is often linked to cats feeling stressed and anxious, resulting in hair loss.

The center is now turning to social media with a plea to get Sarina adopted with a post shared to their TikTok account @taylorsrehomingcentre on March 15.

“We’re hoping once she is in a quiet home she will be happier and won’t over-groom anymore or we can get her in a foster home while she waits,” Taylor’s Rehoming Centre wrote in the comment section of a video it posted about Sarina on TikTok.

One of the difficulties the shelter is facing for Sarina is that she does not get along well with other cats and her profile states she would prefer an adult-only home.

Sarina can also be very shy at first, but once she is comfortable, she’s a snuggle bug. This is clear in the video when she starts making biscuits on the person holding her. Sarina needs her time to adjust and feel comfortable.

Tessa Every, manager at the center, told Newsweek that they have a woman coming to visit Sarina this week. Everyone’s fingers (and paws) are crossed that the meeting goes well and Sarina will be off to her new home.

How Viewers Reacted

As of Monday, the heartbreaking TikTok clip had over 370,800 views, 31,800 likes, and 832 comments. Viewers were shocked that this precious cat had yet to be adopted, but they are hopeful their comments would boost her visibility and connect her to a future family.

“Why does no one want her? She’s so cute,” asked one TikToker.

Another person commented, “She’s a lil business queen too making them lil muffins.”

“Such a sweet little girl. Hopefully, someone sees this and takes her home,” one commenter wrote.
