A Congressional committee has unreleased photos of Donald Trump from the day of the January 6 Capitol riot, according to newly released testimony.
The existence of the photos was revealed in testimony to the January 6 committee by a White House valet. The valet gave his testimony on June 10, 2022, and a heavily-redacted copy was released on Friday.
Kyle Cheney, a reporter for Politico, wrote on X, formerly Twitter that the photos may provide a vital piece of evidence about the former president’s often-discussed activities that day.
“The Jan. 6 committee got official WH photos from Jan. 6 that it didn’t release but showed Trump at key moments. These would have more historical value than a lot of things that have come out. Unclear why they didn’t (perhaps because they’d ID non-political staff),” he wrote.
The transcript shows that a committee member asked the valet about a photo of Trump taken on January 6, 2021, the day that Trump supporters stormed the Capitol as Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election was being officially certified.

A committee member asks: “What is going on in this picture? Was this after the phone call with the vice president?”
The valet replied: “It could have been. It looks—his [Trump’s] jacket is on, so it looks like we’re getting ready to go to the speech.”
The valet is then asked: “Do you remember stopping in the outer Oval with the President for him to do anything?”
The valet replies: “Typically, that’s what he likes to do. He—if there’s something on like that—he goes and watches the TV real quick … .” The rest of his sentence is redacted.

The employee’s testimony offers insight into the Trump presidency. His testimony included comments on Trump’s daily habits, his attitude to various White House employees and his actions on the day of the Capitol riot.
His evidence was part of an 18-month investigation by the Congressional January 6 committee, which interviewed over 1000 witnesses.
The committee’s investigation focused on Trump’s actions leading up to and during the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, when a group of his supporters tried to stop Congress from officially confirming Joe Biden’s 2020 win.
The committee’s report led special counsel Jack Smith to investigate Trump for election interference, for which the former president and was indicted on four felony counts. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
